Nalle Winery 2017 Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir: A Sparkling Good Time on #PinkSociety

Hello Friends,

For the past few months, I’ve enjoyed participating in a rousing Twitter-based chat hosted by the good folks from The Pink Society. As the name suggests, this fun-loving bunch likes to pink it up. They discuss all things rosé in a friendly, non-pretentious manner. While the main pink party happens every three weeks, a conversation takes place on #PinkSociety every single day. I highly recommending following them; you’ll make friends fast and bonus points if you can bust a move!

One of the special guests on #PinkSociety that I recently had the pleasure of connecting with was proprietors Andrew and April Nalle of Nalle Winery. A small, fourth-generation farm winery, the family has grown grapes in Sonoma’s Dry Creek Valley since the 1920s, surviving prohibition—which lasted until 1933—by selling home winemaking kits and fruit other than wine grapes. For many subsequent years, all of their wine grapes were sold to nearby wineries. However, with the addition of a winery in 1984, the Nalle family began crafting small batches of estate-grown wines under the family’s name.

Nalle Winery 2017 Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir

Nalle Winery is chiefly known for Zinfandel, made in a style that is elegant, food-friendly, and moderate in alcohol. The winery also produces a rocking, traditional-method dry rosé of Pinot Noir that is worthy of your attention. Be it a summer get-together, Sunday brunch, or Thanksgiving dinner, this is a sparkling wine you’ll want in your glass. For further information and where you can find this delicious bubbly, please see my tasting notes below.

Stop and smell the flowers. In other words, we need to take time out of our busy lives to enjoy the small pleasures—like this delicious Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir.

Nalle Winery 2017 Sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir (SPR $50): This dry sparkling wine is made from organically grown Pinot Noir fruit sourced from Hopkins River Ranch in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley appellation. The Nalle family has done business with this vineyard for nearly three decades—all with a handshake and a smile. In the glass, this sparkler pours a lovely pale salmon pink color with a fine persistent bead. In the mouth, it is light and lively, bursting with energy. There are aromas and flavors suggestive of fresh strawberries and white cherries, together with notes of almond butter and pastry crust. The finish is pleasing and lingers on the palate. Who needs a special occasion? A flute of this delicious bubbly is reason enough for celebration! Only 72 cases of this wine were produced. Region: Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California. Other info: ABV 12%, méthode champenoise. Click here to find this wine.
