The growing Route 9 'wine' highway in Loudoun County will soon welcome Crushed Cellars to the wine trail. Crushed Cellars is a small family-owned farm operation located in the historic town of Hillsboro, Virginia. Crushed Cellars is owned by Bob Kalok, who is growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, and experimenting with a few different Pinot Noir clones. Bob plans to open doors for tasting mid-September and will only be open on Saturdays.
The attractive stone-front tasting room is brand new and looks out to the patio, vine plantings and relaxing pond. Crushed Cellars will open up with three wines: a dry and crisp 2009 Seyval Blanc, a semi-sweet 2009 Vidal Blanc, and a young and supple 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon. Bob is pretty psyched about joining the Loudoun County wine community and pouring his wines for Virginia wine lovers. Crushed Cellars is a grape's throw away from Route 9, so be sure to pay them a visit and enjoy their new tasting room, wines, and southern hospitality.
Grab a bottle, fine nibbles, and enjoy!
Besides growing grapes on the small family farm, Bob’s two kids operate their own little farmer's market, raising chickens and picking fruit from several trees on the property. There is always farm fresh eggs and freshly picked fruit available for purchase. Look for the kid's hand-made sign from the road and enjoy your wine tasting experience, friends!
The kids were kind enough to introduce me to their baby chicken!
