Quick Sip: Amorosa Bella 2010 RRV Sparkling Brut

Hello Friends,

For several months now I have consistently tuned in to Cellars of Sonoma TV Tuesday (live streaming broadcast) with my wine blogging friend Dan Goderis aka The Iowa Wino. Cellars of Sonoma is a wine tasting room and wine bar located in the heart of Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square. Proprietor Scott Jordan, son Kevin, and staff, host a live streaming broadcast every Tuesday that showcases small artisan and boutique wine producers of northern California as well as local chefs and people in the hospitality business.

Amorosa Bella 2010 Russian River Valley SP Brut

This past Tuesday’s live broadcast featured an interactive winemaker interview and tasting with special guest Dr. Charlyn Belluzzo of Amorosa Bella Winery. The name, “Amorosa Bella” means beautiful lover in Italian and Charlyn says, “The love affair is with life!” Dan and I had an opportunity to taste and discuss the Amorosa Bella 2010 Russian River Valley Sparkling Brut with Scott and Charlyn during the broadast. This sparkling wine is a blend of 78% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Noir. In the glass, the wine displays a straw, light salmon color with subtle copper hues and fine persistent bubbles. The palate is crisp and refreshing with mouth-watering, food-friendly acidity, vibrant red fruit flavors with citrus nuances, a faint biscuit-like component and a clean, lasting finish. The SRP is $30 and $25.50 for Cellar of Sonoma wine club members. To the best of my knowledge, Amorosa Bella small-lot wines can only be found at the Cellars of Sonoma tasting room. Charlyn was engaging as always and provided lots of good information, so if you have a moment I suggest checking it out. In closing, remember: Champagne and sparkling wine are not just for special occasions – the special occasion is the day you open the wine and enjoy it. Cheers!
